A Nairobi court has issued an injunction preventing journalist Alex Mwakideu and his sister Rozina Mwakideu from further publishing an interview video that includes controversial statements about Pastor Robert Burale. The video, where Rozina discusses her marriage to Burale and describes it as her “biggest mistake,” sparked a legal battle after Burale filed a case against the Mwakideus for defamation.
Milimani Commercial Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki, on October 28, 2025, ruled that the defendants must cease further publication of the video or any related content on social media platforms until the court hears and makes a determination on the case. However, the court did not order the removal of the already published content, as Burale had requested.
The legal action began when Burale filed a certificate of urgency on October 8, 2025, seeking an injunction against Alex Mwakideu for publishing defamatory remarks. In his application, Burale requested that the court compel Mwakideu to remove the video from his YouTube channel and prohibit the sharing of its content by others. Additionally, Burale sought a public apology from Alex and Rozina Mwakideu, demanding that they formally retract the defamatory statements and warn the public to cease sharing the video.
Burale’s legal team argued that the statements made in the video were harmful to his reputation and violated his rights. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the court’s current order only restricts further publication, leaving the existing content online for now.
The case is set to be revisited on February 25, 2026, where the court will confirm the filing of submissions from both parties. This high-profile case has attracted significant media attention due to the public nature of the parties involved and the controversy surrounding the remarks made in the video.
