The third sale of the 2025/2026 coffee trading season at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) showcased strong market performance, reflecting steady demand for high-quality Kenyan Arabica coffee. A total of 8,674 bags, equivalent to 541,341 kilograms, were traded at the auction held on October 22, 2025. The sale generated a total value of USD 4.38 million, approximately KES 592 million. The average price per 50-kg bag was USD 404, translating to about KES 160 per kilogram of cherry.
The top price achieved during the session was USD 511 for 18 bags of AA-grade coffee produced by Murarandia Farmers’ Cooperative Society from Murang’a County, highlighting the continued premium value placed on well-processed Arabica beans from the region.
AA and AB grades dominated the auction, accounting for over 55% of the total traded volume. AA grade coffee averaged USD 463.37 per bag, while AB fetched an average of USD 431.12. Other grades also recorded strong prices, with C-grade selling at an average of USD 398.89 and PB at USD 426.61, signaling consistent market confidence in Kenyan coffee quality.
On the brokers’ front, New KPCU PLC led in traded volume, handling 2,200 bags weighing 137,428 kilograms, valued at USD 1.09 million at an average price of USD 398 per bag. Alliance Berries Limited followed closely with 1,928 bags (120,357 kg) worth USD 971,046, averaging USD 403 per bag. KCCE Marketing Agency managed 913 bags at an average of USD 409, while Kipkelion Broker Company moved 847 bags valued at USD 445,977, averaging USD 426 per bag. Murang’a County Coffee Dealers Co. Ltd recorded an average price of USD 410 for 302 bags.
Among buyers, Ibero Kenya Ltd emerged as the leading purchaser with 3,138 bags (196,004 kg) worth USD 1.56 million. Louis Dreyfus Company followed with 1,827 bags for USD 946,200, while Taylor Winch acquired 1,288 bags for USD 680,173. C. Dormans SEZ Ltd and Global Mark Foods Ltd rounded out the top five, purchasing 981 and 349 bags respectively. Together, these five companies accounted for nearly 90% of the total traded volume, underscoring their dominance in Kenya’s premium coffee market.
