Police in Eldoret have arrested a headteacher accused of defiling four male pupils from a public school in Uasin Gishu County. The suspect, who was apprehended at Hill School a private institution on Sunday, had just officiated netball games when police officers moved in.
Turbo Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Wekesa confirmed the arrest, noting that the headteacher is alleged to have committed the offences on multiple occasions between December 2024 and February 2025.
“We are holding him for investigations to establish the truth,” Wekesa stated, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations.
According to police, the victims include a 15-year-old in Grade 8, a 14-year-old in Grade 7, and two 15 and 16-year-old students in Grade 9. The case was officially recorded under Occurrence Book (OB) number 31/14/7/2025 at Baharini Police Station.
Both the suspect and the victims have been taken for medical examination, a standard procedure in such sensitive cases. Wekesa confirmed that further medical tests are scheduled to be conducted at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“The offence is serious and requires medical reports before the next action is taken,” he said.
The arrest was carried out by the Officer in Charge of Crime in collaboration with the Assistant Chief of Kiplombe Location. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since taken over the case, with officers currently collecting statements from the victims and gathering relevant evidence.
Parents of the affected children raised the alarm, prompting police action and the eventual arrest of the headteacher. Wekesa assured the public that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness and professionalism.
“We have already dispatched officers to thoroughly investigate the matter so that the necessary legal action is taken,” he added.
Police are now expected to present the suspect in court to seek more time for holding him as investigations continue. The case has drawn widespread concern from the community, with calls for swift justice and greater protection of children in learning institutions.
