Former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nancy Njeri Macharia has been nominated as the Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board. The nomination was announced in a notice signed by Annie Macharia, the Acting Clerk of the Murang’a County Assembly, and dated June 19, 2025.
Dr. Macharia, who retired earlier this year after nearly a decade of service at the helm of TSC, is known for her leadership in spearheading key reforms in the education sector, most notably the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Her wealth of experience in public administration and human resource management is expected to be a significant asset to the county board, which is tasked with managing human resource functions including recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary matters.
In line with the County Governments Act and the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act, Dr. Macharia will undergo a public vetting process before her appointment is finalized. The vetting is scheduled for Friday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. in the Murang’a County Assembly chambers.
Dr. Macharia will be joined by four other nominees: Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kang’ethe Kinyua, Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu, and Oscar Kimani Gathura, who has been nominated as the Secretary of the Board.
The County Assembly has invited members of the public to submit their views on the suitability of the nominees. Submissions are to be made through sworn affidavits and must be delivered to the County Assembly by June 26.
All nominees are required to present original documents during the vetting process, including academic certificates, clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, EACC, DCI (police), CRB, and a valid national ID or passport.
If approved, Dr. Macharia’s appointment would mark a significant step in Murang’a County’s efforts to strengthen public service delivery through experienced and capable leadership at the board level.
