Kiambu National Polytechnic has unveiled a new hospitality apprenticeship programme that will provide young Kenyans with world-class training and employment opportunities in Germany.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with BSZ Erding and the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Bavaria), seeks to equip youth aged 18 to 24 with global hospitality skills and exposure to European work standards.
According to the Polytechnic, the international partnership aims to bridge the skills gap in Kenya’s hospitality industry while promoting youth employability and sustainable career opportunities abroad. The programme targets individuals holding a minimum Level 4 certificate in Food and Beverage or Catering and Accommodation, or those with at least two years of practical experience in the sector.
Applicants must also demonstrate basic German language proficiency at A1 level, in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The apprenticeship will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, set to run from January to July 2026, will take place at Kiambu National Polytechnic. Trainees will undergo a six-month blended learning course combining professional hospitality training and German language lessons to prepare them for integration into the German vocational system.
Successful participants will then travel to Germany for the second phase — a paid apprenticeship in leading hotels. This hands-on experience will be offered under Germany’s renowned dual vocational training model, which blends classroom learning with real-world work experience.
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CVs, certified academic documents, and proof of German language proficiency via email to principal@kiambupoly.ac.ke before October 24, 2025. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews.
This unique opportunity allows Kenyan youth to gain international exposure, improve technical and language skills, and position themselves competitively in the global hospitality market.
