Education Principal Secretary (PS) Julius Bitok has clarified the timeline for the release of the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results and the subsequent placement of Grade 10 students to senior schools.
Speaking in Kikuyu on Monday, November 17, Bitok confirmed that the ministry will release KJSEA results by December 11, 2025. The 2025 KJSEA exams ran from October 27 to November 3.
According to the PS, the ministry will begin processing senior school placements one week after the results are released, ensuring that students are allocated to their institutions promptly. Bitok stated, “We expect that the results will be out by December 11, and we are going to do placement immediately after that so that they can go to senior school.”
The ministry anticipates that the 1.1 million learners will report to their respective schools by January 12, 2026. Bitok emphasized that clear guidelines have been issued to guarantee a smooth transition and prevent any confusion during the placement process.
School Fees Remain Unchanged
PS Bitok reassured parents that there will be no changes to school fees in 2026. The policy of free primary and secondary education remains intact, and any changes, if at all, will be officially announced by the government. “All our learners will continue enjoying free primary and secondary education. There are no changes in fees; let me make that very clear,” he said.
Capitation and School Verification
To ensure timely release of school capitation, the ministry is finalizing a school verification process to confirm the number of students and schools nationwide. Verified schools will have their capitation released promptly next year. Bitok noted that the verification is crucial for accurate data management and financial accountability, a process prompted by the Auditor General.
The ministry’s proactive planning aims to ensure that learning activities across the country run smoothly, and that the transition from primary to senior school is seamless for all learners.
