The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of qualified secondary school teachers and college tutors to serve as assessors for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examinations. The application window is open from June 10 to July 30, 2025.
According to KNEC, the recruitment targets professionals aged 50 years and below. Selected applicants will undergo specialized training in preparation for the assessment duties related to specific 2025 KCSE examination papers. These include Paper Mechanics (447/2), Electricity (448/2), Aviation Technology (450/2), French Oral (501/3), German Oral (502/3), Arabic Oral (503/3), Kenyan Sign Language Signing Practical (504/3), and Music Practical (511/1).
KNEC emphasized that only new applicants are required to apply. Teachers and tutors who are already listed in the council’s database of assessors are exempt from this recruitment.
Eligible applicants must be practicing teachers or tutors in the relevant subject areas and must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognized professional body. The council further noted that all declared vacancies will be visible for applicants to select from during the application process. However, due to limited slots, only applicants who meet the qualification criteria and present the necessary documentation will be shortlisted.
This recruitment is part of KNEC’s commitment to uphold the integrity and quality of the national examinations. By engaging competent and trained professionals, the council aims to ensure fair and accurate assessment of oral and practical components, which are essential in evaluating students’ practical skills and language proficiency.
KNEC is calling upon all interested and qualified individuals to take advantage of this opportunity. The exercise is vital not only for career development but also for contributing to the credibility of Kenya’s education system.
