The Ministry of Education has announced the official release schedule for the 2025 national examinations, confirming that results for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) will be released in December, while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results will follow in January 2026.
CS Machogu Confirms Timely and Transparent Process
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu made the announcement on Friday, assuring parents, teachers, and candidates that marking and processing of the exams will be conducted transparently and efficiently to ensure timely release. He commended exam administrators, invigilators, and security officers for their dedication in safeguarding the integrity of this year’s examinations.
“Marking for the KPSEA and KJSEA assessments will begin immediately after the exams conclude in mid-November,” Machogu said. “We expect to release both sets of results before schools close for the December holidays, allowing a smooth transition to the next academic year.”
KCSE Results Expected in January 2026
The CS further noted that the KCSE marking exercise will take a few more weeks due to the complexity and volume of papers. “Our teams will work around the clock to ensure that KCSE results are ready for release by mid-January 2026,” he stated, adding that all processes will adhere to strict quality control measures to guarantee fairness and accuracy.
Supporting the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)
Machogu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), emphasizing that results from the KPSEA and KJSEA will not be used for placement but rather to assess learners’ progress and guide future educational planning.
“The assessments are diagnostic, not competitive,” he explained. “They are designed to help identify learners’ strengths and areas for improvement so that teachers can better support their educational journey.”
Enhanced Exam Security and Monitoring
The Ministry also assured candidates and parents that adequate measures had been put in place to prevent exam irregularities. Security agencies have intensified monitoring at examination centers nationwide, while digital tracking systems have been employed to enhance transparency.
Stakeholders Welcome the Announcement
Education stakeholders have welcomed the ministry’s clarity on timelines, saying the early release of KPSEA and KJSEA results will help schools and parents plan effectively for the 2026 academic year.
This year’s national exams have involved over three million learners across the country — a record number since the implementation of the CBC and the restructured national assessment framework.
Ministry Urges Calm and Confidence
With the release dates now confirmed, the Ministry of Education has urged candidates to remain calm and confident, promising that all results will reflect their true effort and performance.
