The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened its portal for applications to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) September 2025 intake. Prospective students interested in pursuing preservice certificate and diploma courses at KMTC are required to submit their applications through the KUCCPS portal at students.kuccps.net.
Meanwhile, those looking to enrol in higher diploma programmes, upgrading diplomas, and short courses are directed to apply via the KMTC portal at admissions.kmtc.ac.ke. The application window opened on June 23 and will close on July 7, 2025.
In a parallel development aimed at supporting financially disadvantaged students, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has launched its loan application window specifically for KMTC students. This initiative is part of a partnership between HELB and KMTC to make medical training more accessible and affordable.
HELB has confirmed that both new and continuing students are eligible to apply for the loan, which is designed to cover tuition and other related costs. Students can access the application through the HELB student portal, selecting the KMTC Student Financing Scheme under the loan application menu. They must accept the terms, input guarantor details, and submit their completed forms, which will then be emailed to them in PDF format. Progress can be monitored via the HELB portal.
To reinforce the effort, the government has released KSh500 million through the National Treasury to support needy students. The allocation, featured in the April 2025 Supplementary Budget, is expected to reduce dropout rates due to financial constraints and ensure continuity in medical training.
KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch confirmed the funds have been disbursed and emphasized the importance of following application instructions to ensure a successful submission. Notably, students reapplying for HELB loans must follow a slightly modified procedure.
With these developments, KMTC students now have improved access to both education and financial assistance, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s healthcare training capacity.
