The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes ahead of the September 2025 intake, in a move aimed at expanding access to skills training across the country.
In a policy shift announced on Saturday, KUCCPS reduced the application fee from Sh1,500 to Sh500 to encourage more Kenyans to enrol. The application window runs from August 8 to August 22, 2025, giving candidates two weeks to apply for placement in diploma, craft certificate, and artisan certificate courses.
“KUCCPS has reopened TVET placement applications for the September 2025 intake, from 8th to 22nd August 2025. Application fee slashed from Sh1,500 to Sh500 to boost access,” the agency stated.
The placement service has invited Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders from the years 2000 to 2024 to apply. Minimum academic requirements vary by programme: a C-minus and above for Diploma (Level 6) courses, a D plain and above for Craft Certificate (Level 5) programmes, and an E for Artisan Certificate (Level 4) courses.
Application guidelines are available on the KUCCPS website, www.kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants needing assistance can visit any TVET institution or Huduma Centre countrywide, or contact KUCCPS via phone (020 5137400 / 0723 954 927) or email (info@kuccps.ac.ke).
The initiative comes amid the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen technical training and align skills development with industry needs. By lowering the application fee, KUCCPS aims to remove financial barriers and increase participation in TVET programmes, which are crucial for equipping learners with hands-on expertise in various sectors.
As the state corporation mandated to coordinate the placement of government-sponsored students to universities, colleges, and TVET institutions, KUCCPS also plays a central role in career guidance and disseminating information on available courses. It sets minimum entry requirements and allocates students based on merit, preferences, and available capacity.
Successful applicants will join accredited institutions in September 2025 to begin practical, industry-oriented training designed to enhance employability and support the country’s economic growth.
