The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially reopened its online application portal for students seeking admission into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for the September 2025 intake. This intake targets KCSE certificate holders who sat their exams between the year 2000 and 2024.
Depending on their KCSE performance, eligible students can apply for various levels of training. For Artisan Certificate courses (Level 4), a minimum grade of E is required. Craft Certificate courses (Level 5) require at least a D grade, while Diploma courses (Level 6) demand a minimum of C- (minus).
In a bid to boost enrollment and remove financial barriers, KUCCPS has waived all application fees for this particular intake. All applications must be submitted online via the KUCCPS Students’ Portal at students.kuccps.net. Guidelines are also available on the official KUCCPS website, www.kuccps.ac.ke.
Applicants facing challenges during the process are encouraged to visit their nearest public TVET institution or Huduma Centre for assistance. Additional support can be obtained through KUCCPS by calling 0205137400 or 0723954927, or by emailing info@kuccps.ac.ke. The application window is open from July 14 to July 31, 2025.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda of achieving 100% transition from basic to tertiary education. It also seeks to empower youth with practical, hands-on skills that promote self-reliance and national economic development.
KUCCPS, a State Corporation established under the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012, has cautioned applicants to avoid common mistakes. These include failing to submit applications after adding courses to the Course Basket and entering incorrect contact information, which could hinder communication.
The placement body also reminded applicants not to use M-Pesa transaction IDs for application submission. Instead, they should use the eCitizen account number—an alphanumeric code found in the middle of the M-Pesa confirmation SMS.
Prospective students are advised to apply early and double-check their details to avoid disqualification.
