The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Basic Education, has announced 1,000 internship vacancies under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4. The internships are part of a nationwide initiative to enhance digital learning in public schools and will be coordinated by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
According to a notice published in the Tuesday edition of MyGov, successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to sub-county education offices across the country. The interns will support virtual learning platforms and promote the integration of digital technology in primary school education.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Information Communication Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from a recognized institution are eligible to apply. Additional competencies in networking, applications development, cybersecurity, project management, and ICT integration in education are considered essential.
PSC outlined that interns will be involved in e-learning content development, providing classroom support, and training primary school teachers on the use of digital literacy tools. Interns will also be expected to innovate ways to enhance digital learning, support the safe and ethical use of technology in classrooms, and offer first-line ICT maintenance services.
Further responsibilities include integrating ICT in teaching, learning, and assessment; assisting with the development of school ICT policies; and contributing to research and innovation supporting the Digital Literacy Programme.
The internship will last 12 months, during which interns will receive a government stipend. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education.
This initiative not only aims to equip interns with practical ICT and educational skills but also supports the broader national goal of embedding digital literacy into Kenya’s education system.
Interested candidates must have graduated in 2020 or later and should submit their applications online via the Public Service Commission’s job portal at www.publicservice.go.ke, www.psckjobs.go.ke, or www.pscims.publicservice.go.ke/jobs. The deadline for applications is June 23, 2025.
