Mount Kenya University (MKU) is preparing to host its 27th graduation ceremony in August 2025, continuing its commitment to academic excellence and regional impact. The highly anticipated event will be held at the university’s iconic Graduation Pavilion at the Happy Valley grounds along Garissa Road in Thika.
According to the university administration, the ceremony will be presided over by MKU Chancellor Prof. John Struthers, who will confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates to students who have successfully cleared all academic and financial requirements. Clearance is being conducted through the University Management Information System (MIS), and the final deadline for academic and financial clearance is set for Friday, 4th July 2025.
Graduands have been urged to verify their names and ensure any corrections—such as spellings or order of names—are submitted to the respective admissions offices by the same date. These corrections must be accompanied by relevant academic documents. The final graduation list will be posted on the university’s website, and any discrepancies should be reported promptly.
Rehearsals for the event will take place on Thursday, 7th August 2025 at the graduation venue, as MKU gears up for what promises to be a vibrant and memorable celebration.
The 26th graduation ceremony held in December 2024 saw over 7,400 students graduate, including 12 PhDs, 617 Master’s degree holders, and more than 5,000 Bachelor’s degree recipients. The event, themed “Internationalisation of University Education towards Development of a Competitive Global Workforce,” featured dignitaries such as Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya, Ambassador Eunice Kigenyi, who commended MKU’s cross-border educational impact.
MKU Co-founder Dr. Jane Nyutu emphasized the institution’s regional expansion, including operations in Uganda, and addressed the critical issue of mental health. MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi reaffirmed the university’s mission to produce competent, innovative graduates ready for global challenges.
As MKU prepares for its 27th graduation, the institution remains a beacon of academic empowerment, promoting resilience, innovation, and holistic development in higher education across the region.
