The Ministry of Education has announced the availability of 200 Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships for Kenyan students seeking to study in Hungary for the 2026/27 academic year. The scholarships cover Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s (OTM), and PhD programs across a wide range of fields.
The online application portal opens on November 15, 2025, and closes on January 15, 2026, with all applications due to the Ministry by January 16, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Fields of Study
Bachelor’s and Master’s applicants can pursue programs in Agricultural Science, Computer Science & IT, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering, Medical & Health Science, and Natural Science. OTM scholarships, covering both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, are available in General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine. PhD candidates may apply in any field of interest.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected students receive tuition-free education, accommodation support, and a monthly stipend. Accommodation may be a free dormitory or a HUF 40,000 (approx. Ksh 15,512) contribution per month. PhD students receive HUF 140,000 (Ksh 54,322) per month for the first four semesters and HUF 180,000 (Ksh 69,868) for the remaining semesters. Bachelor’s, Master’s, and OTM students receive HUF 43,700 (Ksh 16,971) monthly. The scholarship also covers medical insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum KCSE B plain, be under 25, and have completed secondary education in the last three years. Postgraduate applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with upper second-class honours and be below 38 years, while PhD applicants require a Master’s degree and must be under 45 years.
Application Procedure
Applicants should apply online via the Stipendium Hungaricum website, upload required documents, and then submit the printed application along with the Ministry’s Standard Scholarship Form and certified certificates to the Director of Higher Education at Telposta Towers. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
