The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is putting integrity at the forefront as it prepares for the 2025 national examinations. The exams will run from October 21 to November 21, covering five major assessments.
TSC has outlined clear timelines and procedures to ensure exams reflect students’ true abilities. The commission aims for a smooth and transparent examination season.
Exam Rehearsals and Schedules
- KCSE: Rehearsals start on October 17. Exams run from October 21 to November 21.
- KJSEA: Rehearsals on October 24 and 27. Exams run from October 27 to November 3.
- KPLEA: Rehearsals on October 24 and 27. Exams from October 27 to 30.

Qualified Staff Only
TSC emphasizes that only qualified and registered teachers will manage exams. Acting Commission Secretary and CEO E. J. Mitei said nominees must be “of high integrity and not easily compromised.”
All Centre Managers, Supervisors, and Invigilators must register on the CP2 system by September 26. Staff cannot serve in schools where they worked in the last three years. Conflicts of interest must be declared, and staff may be redeployed if necessary.
Clear Roles and Accountability
Centre Managers will:
- Verify staff qualifications and identity
- Track daily attendance from rehearsals to exam end
- Submit signed and stamped attendance records to KNEC
Supervisors and invigilators have set ratios:
- One supervisor per 200 candidates
- One invigilator per 20 candidates
Special provisions exist for blind students, separate assessments in the same centre, and Stage-Based Pathway exams like KILEA and KPLEA.
Ensuring Fairness
KCSE supervisors must hold a diploma or higher, while invigilators need at least three years of teaching experience. Supervisors rotate weekly, and only they are present during oral and practical exams.
TSC’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and proper staffing ensures that the 2025 national exams will be fair, credible, and well-managed.
