The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the rescheduling of all promotional interviews that were initially set for Friday, October 17, 2025, following the government’s declaration of the same date as a public holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga.
In a circular dated October 16, 2025, addressed to all teachers, the Commission confirmed that the interviews would be postponed and conducted on alternative dates.
“Following the Government’s declaration of Friday, 17th October, 2025, as a Public Holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, the Teachers Service Commission has suspended all promotional interviews previously scheduled for that date,” the circular read.
According to the notice signed by Acting Commission Secretary and CEO, Ms. E.J. Mitei, the affected interviews will now be conducted between Tuesday, October 21 and Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The Commission directed Regional Directors to communicate the revised timetables and logistical details to the affected teachers in due course.
TSC also expressed gratitude to teachers for their understanding and patience during the adjustment period.
“We appreciate your professionalism, continued commitment, and understanding,” the statement added.
The Commission emphasized the importance of cooperation from all candidates to ensure the smooth progression of the promotional process despite the unavoidable change.
In addition, TSC acknowledged the significance of the declared public holiday, describing it as a moment for reflection on Raila Odinga’s life and legacy.
“This moment offers us all an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of a national icon whose contributions to democracy and education remain indelible,” the circular stated.
The declaration of the holiday forms part of a series of national tribute activities planned to honour the former Prime Minister, who played a pivotal role in Kenya’s democratic reforms and public service transformation.
TSC’s swift adjustment underscores its sensitivity to national events and its commitment to maintaining order while upholding respect for Kenya’s national heritage.
