Empowering Youth Through Vocational Training: Kiharu NG-CDF Initiative

This initiative, spearheaded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), aims to provide short courses in driving and hospitality, managed in collaboration with Kiharu Technical and Vocational College and its satellite campuses in Murang’a and Kahuro towns.

The courses, fully funded by the CDF, target to train and equip hundreds of young people with practical skills that are highly sought after in today’s economy. Speaking at the disbursement of a bursary kitty to learners at Kiharu Technical Vocational College, MP Ndindi Nyoro highlighted the importance of these courses in bridging the skills gap among the youth.

Driving Skills for Economic Mobility

A significant component of the initiative focuses on driving skills, with plans to train 500 youth in partnership with certified driving instructors. The CDF will procure three vehicles specifically for driving instruction, ensuring that learners have access to practical training under the college’s supervision. This not only equips the youth with essential driving skills but also enhances their employability prospects in various sectors requiring transportation expertise.

Hospitality Training for Career Advancement

In addition to driving, the initiative prioritizes hospitality training, aiming to enroll 800 students in courses facilitated by equipped training facilities. Recognizing the demand for skilled personnel in the hospitality industry, MP Ndindi Nyoro emphasized the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills and certifications to thrive in this sector.

Community Impact and Support

The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with youth like Jamleck Kuria expressing their eagerness to enroll in these courses. For Kuria, who recently completed secondary education, the opportunity to acquire marketable skills in hospitality is a significant step towards securing his future despite economic challenges.

Parents, such as Julia Wambui, have also lauded the initiative for its timely intervention in supporting youth education and skill development. Wambui emphasized the crucial role of leadership in empowering the youth with the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the modern job market.

Looking Ahead

As Kiharu constituency continues to invest in vocational training through innovative CDF-funded programs, the future looks promising for its youth. By equipping them with practical skills in driving and hospitality, this initiative not only addresses immediate employment needs but also sets a foundation for sustainable economic growth and community development.

In conclusion, initiatives like these underscore the transformative impact of targeted investments in youth education and skills training. With proactive leadership and community support, Kiharu constituency is paving the way for a brighter future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
