Kenyan comedian Mulamwah has found himself addressing online criticism after a TikToker questioned his lack of support for fellow celebrities. This follows the recent hosting of his comedy show Let Me Explain, which reportedly saw limited attendance from his peers in the entertainment industry.
A video by a TikTok user sparked the conversation, noting how Mulamwah seems to isolate himself from other celebrities, both online and in person. The user pointed out that the comedian only follows one person on social media and rarely, if ever, shows up for other people’s events. Using Prince Indah’s successful event as an example, the TikToker emphasized the importance of mutual support within the entertainment community. “This life is two-way traffic,” he said. “Be good to me, and I’ll be good to you.”
The comment triggered widespread reactions and prompted Mulamwah to respond. In a defiant tone, he brushed off the criticism, suggesting that negativity toward him began years ago and that he continues to thrive despite the backlash. “People started hating on me in 2019,” he remarked. “You’re late to the party. It’s just disappointments now—Konki always wins.”
In his interviews, Mulamwah acknowledged that he planned and executed the event largely on his own due to a lack of support from others in the industry. He appeared emotional, hinting at the disappointment he felt over the absence of those he might have expected to show up for him. Nevertheless, he remained firm in his stance that he would continue pushing forward regardless of others’ opinions or actions.
Social media users were quick to weigh in on the situation. Some agreed with the TikToker, expressing that the comedian might be reaping the consequences of not nurturing relationships with others in the field. One user mentioned that Mulamwah doesn’t stand with others even during difficult times, such as personal losses, while another stressed the importance of reciprocity, saying, “Support people, and they will support you.”
However, not everyone criticized him. Some defended the comedian, stating that personal decisions should be respected and that public expectations can sometimes be unreasonable. One user remarked that fans are what truly matter, not the validation of celebrities. Another said that people often wait for someone to fail so they have something to say, suggesting that had Mulamwah’s event been packed, the criticism might not have emerged.
The conversation around Mulamwah’s relationships with his peers comes at a time when he also publicly confirmed the end of his relationship with his former fiancée, Ruth K. While many speculated that the breakup might have been a publicity stunt to boost ticket sales for his show, both Mulamwah and Ruth have insisted the split is genuine. Ruth even posted a video showcasing a new house, which fans quickly compared to Mulamwah’s home, further fueling speculation about their separation.
Despite the scrutiny, Mulamwah remains undeterred. He appears set on continuing his journey on his own terms, even if that means walking the road with fewer allies by his side.
