Kenyan filmmaker and actor Abel Mutua has spoken out following the highly publicized separation between fellow actor Daddie Marto and his estranged wife, Koku Lwanga. In a heartfelt message, Mutua extended words of encouragement to the couple after a tense week of online exchanges that captured national attention.
Daddie Marto, known for his standout roles in popular Kenyan television productions, and Koku Lwanga, a celebrated digital content creator, have long been admired for their seemingly strong bond. The pair frequently shared glimpses of their family life online, earning them a loyal fan base.
However, the couple shocked followers when private marital issues spilled into the public sphere. Subtle hints of trouble quickly escalated into open accusations and emotional outbursts on social media, with revelations about their split sparking debate and concern among fans and fellow celebrities alike.
In the midst of the heated back-and-forth, Marto issued a statement apologizing for his conduct online, admitting that frustration and anger had driven him to speak out prematurely.
“I have had time to sit with myself, sit with the counsel of friends, colleagues, family, and elders. I will stop,” Marto wrote. “I was angry, frustrated, and I broke. I am human. We have our limits. I am sorry for the ugliness.”
He acknowledged personal shortcomings in protecting his family’s unity, adding, “I failed my family. I did not cover them with enough prayers… That is on me.”
While conceding that his marriage to Koku may be beyond repair, Marto stressed the need to remain united as parents. “It might be too late for me and the mother of my children as a couple, but it is not too late for us as parents… Pray for me, pray for my children, pray for my family. This is the last I will speak of any of this until the battle has been won.”
Abel Mutua’s supportive message urged both parties to prioritize healing, protect their children from public scrutiny, and seek peace away from the glare of social media a reminder that even public figures deserve private space to navigate personal struggles.
