Kenyan musician and businesswoman Akothee has revealed a frightening medical emergency that left her hospitalized after collapsing in her home. Speaking from her hospital bed, the star recounted a night of intense pain that nearly turned fatal.
The Ordeal Begins
The incident occurred early on a Sunday morning when Akothee experienced severe stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea that worsened through the night. By 5:00 a.m., she described the pain as unbearable. Akothee attributed the episode to a shocking video involving a young girl that she had watched at home, which caused such distress that she claimed it almost triggered labor.
“I was vomiting, diarrhearing, my stomach burning with acidity, and the pain was unbearable from midnight. I slept in the toilet,”
she explained.
“I had been having severe stomach pain since I saw that disturbing video… I was so terrified that I literally went into labor.”
Hospital Visit and Challenges
Akothee’s children discovered her collapsed on the toilet floor and rushed her to the hospital around 6:00 a.m. However, she described encountering a lack of compassion from the attending nurse. According to Akothee, her daughters pleaded for urgent attention, but the nurse reportedly raised her voice and instructed them to wait outside.
“I had to defend my children while leaning over in pain and trying to sit in the wheelchair. I completely lost trust in her ability to provide care,”
she shared. Feeling unsafe, Akothee reportedly told the nurse she preferred treatment elsewhere, to which staff allegedly responded,
“You are free to go.”
Recovery and Reflection
Despite the stressful interaction, Akothee eventually received medication, which provided some relief. She confirmed that the young girl, who had been working as a nanny, was sent home, emphasizing her need to prioritize her own well-being.
“Though my stomach is tired and very painful, may I get well to protect my children,”
she stated. Akothee described the experience as overwhelmingly exhausting, both physically and emotionally.
Key Takeaways
Akothee’s harrowing experience underscores the sudden health risks that can affect anyone and the critical importance of empathy and compassion in medical care. Her openness has sparked public discussion about patient treatment standards and the need for sensitivity during emergencies.
