Content creator Alicia Kanini has turned down a suggestion to go on a date with rapper Stivo Simple Boy, explaining that she prefers to spend time with people she truly knows and values. The TikTok personality clarified that her decisions about dating are guided by personal connection and authenticity rather than the fame or popularity of an individual.
Kanini Explains Her Stance
During an online interaction with fans, Kanini was asked whether she would accept a date with Stivo, who recently welcomed a child with his partner Brenda. She firmly declined, stating that she only makes time for people she genuinely cherishes.
“No! Nitoke tu kwa nyumba nipatane na Stivo Simple Boy. A good example is Azziad. Azziad ni mtu anapendwa. Azziad akienda mahali, people would want to go and see her. And for that reason, sitaenda,” Kanini said. She further added, “I can only go on a date with a celebrity if they are someone I really prioritise. I can create time for someone I adore, cherish, and highly value. But I can’t do that to someone I barely know; these socialites, content creators, and TikTokers, honestly, that is a no.”
To illustrate her point, Kanini used the example of Azziad Nasenya, noting that meeting such a high-profile celebrity would draw unwanted public attention and crowds. She stressed that the same principle applies to other public figures she doesn’t personally know.
Previous Controversies and Career Choices
The conversation comes after Kanini previously faced backlash when private videos of her were leaked online. Nairobi environment official Geoffrey Mosiria criticized her content, calling it morally inappropriate and possibly illegal under Kenyan obscenity laws. Mosiria argued that such material could negatively influence young girls.
However, in a surprising move, Mosiria later offered Kanini a job at a local club with a monthly salary of up to KSh 100,000, encouraging her to leave her controversial online work. Kanini declined the offer, choosing instead to continue pursuing her digital content career.
Faith and Public Perception
Despite public criticism and accusations of being a negative influence, Kanini has remained steadfast. She identifies as born again and insists that her faith remains strong regardless of her online persona. According to her, her content does not conflict with her spiritual journey or her relationship with God.
Focus on Authentic Relationships
Through her comments about Stivo Simple Boy, Kanini reaffirmed her principled approach to dating — choosing meaningful relationships over celebrity appeal or public attention. Her honesty continues to attract both praise and criticism, with fans intrigued by her bold views on fame, values, and faith.
