Kenyan content creator Pritty Vishy has delivered a heartfelt and courageous message, shedding light on the judgment and disrespect she has faced within the local entertainment industry. In a recent Instagram story, the 23-year-old boldly called out fellow celebrities and fans who have looked down on her simply for not fitting into the stereotypical “baddie” image often glamorized on social media.
Pritty revealed that she has been mocked for not owning high-end items like iPhones, living in a modest bedsitter, and choosing not to flaunt designer clothes or a flashy lifestyle. “Nimeonyeshwa madharau adi na ‘maceleb’ wenu juu sikukuwa na iPhone, juu nilikuwa naishi bedsitter, juu sikukuwa na form ‘baddie’…” she wrote, highlighting how superficial standards continue to shape public perception in Kenya’s influencer scene.
Despite the criticism, Pritty reminded her followers of her humble beginnings and the tough road she’s walked. From enduring hunger and sleeping in iron-sheet houses, to working as a house help, vegetable vendor, and coffee seller she has faced hardships with unmatched resilience. “Nimelala njaa, nimeishi nyumba ya matope na mabati… nimekuwa mama fua, nimeuza kahawa, nimekuwa mama mboga…”
Her story took an even more personal turn when she disclosed being taken advantage of by an actor who promised her opportunities in exchange for a romantic relationship. “Nimedanganywa na actor atanisaidia if only nitakuwa dem yake and I fell for it…” she confessed, acknowledging the harsh lessons she has learned while navigating the industry.
At just 23, Pritty Vishy is determined not to let societal pressure or celebrity mockery derail her goals. “I’m 23 but trust me I know what I want in life,” she affirmed, standing firm in her truth and inspiring many with her authenticity.
Pritty’s revelations shine a light on classism, exploitation, and the unrealistic expectations placed on young women in the limelight but also on the power of resilience and self-awareness in forging one’s own path.
