Faustine Lukale, also known as Baba Talisha, emotionally recounted the tragic day he lost his wife, Milka, in a devastating road accident. The accident occurred after a photoshoot, leaving him forever changed.
On that fateful day, Faustine was driving their family car, a Toyota Vitz, with his wife in the front passenger seat and their young daughter, Talisha, asleep in her mother’s arms. The family was returning home to Githurai 5 after attending a photoshoot for a couple celebrating their anniversary. Baba Talisha recalled the moment with vivid emotion, remembering how he and Milka were singing together and enjoying their time in the car. It was a moment of peace and happiness, but it would soon be shattered.
Suddenly, another car collided with theirs, sending them crashing into a third vehicle. The force of the impact was so severe that Milka tragically passed away on the spot. Faustine described the heart-wrenching moment: “Mama Talisha died instantly.”
Their daughter, Talisha, was also injured in the crash. However, in an act of kindness, a Good Samaritan quickly came to their aid, taking the young girl to a nearby hospital in Kahawa Wendani. The hospital, recognizing the severity of her injuries, referred Talisha to a more equipped facility for further treatment. Despite the overwhelming loss of his wife, Baba Talisha expressed gratitude for the compassion shown to his daughter in that critical moment.
In the midst of the chaos and pain, Faustine reached out to his brother, who, along with other family members, rushed to Nairobi to support him. Baba Talisha himself was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital, where he began his recovery, both physically and emotionally. The tragedy occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time already filled with anxiety and difficulty, which only compounded the trauma he was experiencing.
The loss of his wife marked the beginning of a long and painful journey for Baba Talisha. In the years since, he has often reflected on the accident and the profound effect it had on his life. The tragedy was especially hard on their daughter, who, at the time of Milka’s burial, was still fighting for her life in the ICU. In a show of national solidarity, an online fundraiser was launched to support Talisha’s treatment, raising over KSh 1 million from generous contributors across the country.
To mark the anniversary of his wife’s death, Baba Talisha visited the scene of the accident. In an emotional tribute, he stood at the very spot where Milka had lost her life, holding a bouquet of flowers. He gently scattered rose petals along the road, symbolizing his love for her and the painful memories tied to that location. The tragic accident has left a permanent mark on Baba Talisha’s heart, but he continues to honor his wife’s memory and the strength of his family in the face of such heartbreaking loss.
