The emotional memorial mass for celebrated gospel singer Betty Bayo was held at her home in Eden Ville, drawing close friends, family, and members of the gospel fraternity. For the first time since her passing, her husband, Hiram Gitau—popularly known as Tash—spoke publicly about the pain of losing his wife and the impact on their family.
Tash Shares Heartfelt Tribute
Emceed by comedian Terence Creative, the memorial welcomed mourners into the family home. Tash, seated beside their children, Sky Victor and Danny, walked to the front to address guests with a calm but emotionally heavy voice.
“How are you guys? I am Tash, Bayo’s husband. This is home, and you are welcome. I want to thank you for praying for us and being with us. The support you have given us is immense. We used to live here with my departed wife, and I have my kids here who will only say hi. These are my kids; we lived here with Bayo as a family. It was a shock, and they will not speak today,”
he shared.
Attendees and social media users praised Tash for his composure and dedication to supporting his children during this difficult time, describing him as a devoted husband who truly cherished Betty.
Kanyari Pays Respect
Betty’s ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, also offered condolences, acknowledging that while their marriage ended years ago, he held deep respect for both Betty and Tash. Kanyari shared that he accepted Betty’s decision to end their marriage and recognized Tash’s role in caring for her.
“I respected the fact that she was married to Tash. Sky used to call him daddy, and that never bothered me. We were all at peace,”
Kanyari noted, highlighting the harmony maintained between the two men for the sake of the children.
Unity Amid Grief
TikToker and content creator Obidan Dela urged Kenyans not to take sides, explaining that Tash and Kanyari have been quietly supporting each other to honor Betty’s memory. “They are working together. I don’t understand why some people are taking sides. They have both lost someone dear to them, and what they need now is unity and support,” he said.
A Celebration of Life
The memorial mass featured emotional moments, music, and heartfelt tributes celebrating Betty Bayo’s vibrant life and enduring impact on the gospel music industry. Her legacy of faith, love, and generosity continues to inspire her family, friends, and fans.
