Bishop Margaret Wanjiru recently shared a deeply personal story about her past involvement in Freemasonry and her transformation through faith. Speaking in a candid interview, she revealed that her pursuit of wealth led her down a path she later abandoned when she gave her life to Christ.
According to her, desperation for financial stability pushed her to explore various secret societies. She admitted to joining several groups in search of prosperity, but none seemed to satisfy the void she was trying to fill. She described Freemasonry as a powerful and dangerous organization, warning others about the risks involved. In her words, “You would join one and realise it was not good enough, so you’d jump to the next.” She added that Freemasonry is closely linked to what many refer to as the Illuminati, describing the latter as a branch or “child” of the former, with both men and women having their separate hierarchies within the organization.
She also opened up about how financial struggles made her vulnerable to being recruited. At the time, her income was dependent on a salary, and she was drawn in by the promise of wealth and financial freedom. However, the reality was much darker. She claimed that members of such secret groups could go to extreme lengths, even taking lives. She warned that some individuals serve as agents of evil, actively recruiting others into the fold.
Her turning point came unexpectedly. One day, she was out with her brother and sister-in-law when she lost them in the crowd. Upon retracing her steps, she found them at the tail end of a crusade. Just as the meeting was about to close, a preacher noticed her and asked an usher to bring her forward. To her surprise, the preacher seemed to know intimate details about her life and her spiritual resistance. He asked her why she was running away from God and whether she had done what He had asked her to do.
Although she initially refused to get saved on that day, the preacher gave her his contact information and encouraged her to reach out. Feeling a strange connection and the weight of his words, she decided to call him the next day. That moment marked the beginning of her spiritual journey and commitment to faith.
Her story has stirred significant debate online. Some people expressed doubt about the legitimacy of her past affiliations, especially because Freemasonry traditionally accepts only men. Others questioned her motives and speculated whether her confession was genuine or simply a tactic to attract attention.
Regardless of the reactions, her story reflects a dramatic journey from darkness to light, and from searching for worldly gain to finding spiritual peace. It also echoes similar testimonies from others who claim to have been part of secret societies but found salvation after personal revelations.
