As protests continue to shake Tanzania following the recent elections, social media commentator Cassypool Capon has come out strongly in defense of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, criticizing Tanzanian artists for abandoning her during the ongoing political turmoil.
Celebrity Silence After Political Endorsements
The East African nation went to the polls on October 28, but dissatisfaction among the youth quickly erupted into nationwide protests. Before the elections, several top Tanzanian entertainers—including Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, and Billnass—openly endorsed Samia and encouraged citizens to re-elect her. However, as tensions rose after the election, many of these celebrities distanced themselves from the president, deleting their campaign posts and remaining silent about the chaos.
Cassypool’s Message to Artists and Supporters
Cassypool, known for his outspoken support for the Tanzanian leader, expressed disappointment in the musicians who chose to remain quiet when their president faced public backlash. He stated that true loyalty is tested during hard times, not when things are smooth. According to him, it was hypocritical for artists who once praised Samia to now abandon her for fear of losing fans or damaging their public image.
“I want to encourage Mama Samia Suluhu and apologize to her as her fan and supporter,” Cassypool said during an interview. “Leadership comes with challenges, and she is not the first to face them. Even other presidents have gone through similar trials but emerged stronger. These hardships will pass, and she will overcome them.”
“This Is God Showing Her Who Is Truly Loyal”
Cassypool went further to say that the current unrest is revealing the true nature of those who once surrounded the president. He explained that many people pretended to be loyal to Samia when things were good, only to disappear once the situation became tense. “There were so many artists and politicians who laughed with her and lied to her. When things got tough, they were the first to delete their posts. This is God showing her who is truly by her side,” he added.
Faith in Samia’s Leadership
Despite widespread criticism of Samia’s administration for its perceived heavy-handed response to protesters, Cassypool maintained that the president would weather the storm. He urged her to forgive her critics and lead all Tanzanians—both supporters and opponents—with unity.
“Mama Atapita” — Cassypool’s Declaration of Loyalty
He concluded by affirming his loyalty to the president, stating that he was ready to lose followers or face online backlash for standing with her. “Mama Atapita,” he declared confidently, suggesting that the turmoil is only temporary and that Samia will eventually emerge victorious.
