Coastal artist Mbekki Mswahili has opened up about the heartfelt motivation behind his bold move to tattoo media personality Azeezah Hashim’s face on his chest and to dedicate an entire song to her.
Speaking exclusively to Mpasho’s Moses Sagwe, Mbekki revealed that his inspiration stems from a deep, unwavering affection for the Citizen TV presenter. He described the tattoo and the song, titled Azeezah, as creative ways to express emotions he could no longer keep to himself.
“The main purpose was to share or to express my feelings to Azeezah Hashim. I had to capture some words in the form of a song to express myself fully to her,” he said.
When asked directly about his inspiration, Mbekki didn’t hesitate: “My inspiration is my love for her. You know I love Azeezah very much. She is worthy of dying for, so I will keep on pursuing her, either in public or in private space.”
The Azeezah track, released just under two weeks ago, is a romantic ballad dedicated to the vibrant host of 10 Over 10, a popular Friday night entertainment show on Citizen TV. The gesture has attracted public attention, not only for its creativity but also for the permanent tribute inked on his chest.
Some online critics have speculated that Mbekki’s efforts might be a publicity stunt. However, the artist firmly dismissed those claims.

“The pressure of social media makes people think that every time you express your feelings to somebody, it’s clout, but my love for Azeezah is real and genuine. Very soon, it will be proven to people,” he said.
Mbekki hinted that his dedication extends far beyond music, promising more personal tributes in the future. “Apart from music, I have many things to dedicate to her mambo bado,” he teased.
Despite the grand gestures, Azeezah Hashim has yet to publicly respond to Mbekki’s expressions of affection, 12 days after the song’s release. Whether his persistence will eventually win her heart remains to be seen, but one thing is certain Mbekki Mswahili’s devotion is as bold as the tattoo he proudly wears.
