Nairobi is set to welcome Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G for the first time on September 27 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), in what organisers promise will be “a special evening that is as much an experience as it is a performance.”
With over 75 million records sold, Kenny G is widely regarded as the best-selling instrumentalist of all time. His timeless hits including Songbird, Forever in Love, and Breathless have cemented his status as a smooth jazz icon. Breathless remains the best-selling instrumental album in history, while his collaborations with global stars like Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, and Kanye West have expanded his musical legacy. He also holds a Guinness World Record for sustaining a single saxophone note for an astonishing 45 minutes and 47 seconds.
Joining Kenny G on stage will be two of Kenya’s finest contemporary musicians. Coster Ojwang, known for his soulful Luo lyrics and seamless blend of traditional and modern sounds, has captivated audiences with tracks such as ManyoPesa, Hera, and Wabiro. Sharing the spotlight will be Kato Change, the Nairobi-based guitarist whose genre-defying style fuses jazz, blues, flamenco, R&B, and African folk influences. His compositions, including Abiro, Nyoro, and Oriti, have earned millions of streams globally.
The event, dubbed One Night Only, will combine world-class live music with an elegant social atmosphere. Guests will enjoy cocktails, a red-carpet reception, and DJ sets at intervals scheduled for 4:30 PM, 6 PM, 7 PM, 9 PM, and 11 PM making the evening a blend of smooth jazz and vibrant entertainment.
For those seeking an elevated experience, VIP tables for eight are available at KSh 240,000, offering premium seating, a complimentary bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold, a three-course dinner, dedicated waitstaff, and secure parking. Ticket prices range from KSh 8,500 for Early Bird Gold to KSh 14,500 for last-minute Gold purchases, with Platinum Individual tickets priced at KSh 35,000.
With its mix of Kenyan talent, an international jazz legend, and a luxurious atmosphere, the night promises to be a landmark event in Nairobi’s live music calendar.
