Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is set to marry his long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez after nine years together. The 31-year-old model and influencer confirmed the engagement on social media, posting a picture of a dazzling diamond ring alongside the caption in Spanish: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Ronaldo, who is yet to comment publicly, met Rodríguez in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked as a sales assistant. At the time, he was starring for Spanish giants Real Madrid. Their romance has since blossomed into one of football’s most high-profile relationships.
The couple share two children together daughter Alana Martina, born in 2017, and Bella Esmeralda, born in April 2022. Bella’s birth came with heartbreak, as her twin brother was stillborn. Rodríguez has also played a key role in raising Ronaldo’s three other children from previous relationships.
Rodríguez, who fronted the hit Netflix reality series I Am Georgina, had previously addressed speculation about their engagement, joking that her friends often teased her about when Ronaldo would “put a ring on it.” That speculation has now been put to rest.
The engagement post drew an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans and celebrities. Kim Kardashian liked the announcement, while TV host Piers Morgan wished the pair “as much success in their marriage as he’s had on the football pitch.” Celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury called it “fabulous news,” and Lauren Sanchez-Bezos, wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, said she was “so happy” for them.
The family currently resides in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr. The 40-year-old forward joined the club in December 2022 on a record-breaking deal reportedly worth £177 million per year. In June 2025, he extended his contract until 2027, quashing retirement rumours.
Marking that extension, Ronaldo wrote on X: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.” Now, with wedding bells on the horizon, it appears the football icon is set to make history both on and off the pitch.
