Kenyan actor Martin Githinji, popularly known as Daddie Marto, has publicly responded to abuse allegations made by his estranged wife, Koku Lwanga. In a detailed statement released Tuesday, the “Sue & Johnnie” star broke his silence, revealing he has taken legal action to protect his name.
The actor stated that he initially chose to remain silent “to keep the peace and to avoid fueling an already painful situation.” However, he now believes that silence has caused more harm than good, as the allegations have escalated and severely impacted his personal and professional life.
In June, Lwanga accused Marto of domestic abuse, neglect, and betrayal. Responding to those claims, Marto said the couple formally ended their relationship in March 2025, with him moving out in April. Despite the separation, he asserted that he continued to meet financial obligations, including school fees and medical cover for their children.
Addressing the alleged abuse, Marto recounted a specific incident where he returned home with a friend and was confronted by Lwanga, leading to a heated exchange in which he sustained an eye injury. He said he recorded the incident for safety purposes, following his therapist’s advice.
“Since that night, I have been portrayed in ways that suggest I am violent, abusive, manipulative, and irresponsible. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said. Marto emphasized that there had never been any history of violence between them prior to that incident.

He also expressed concern over what he described as the “weaponization” of a singular narrative and announced that he has filed a lawsuit to halt further defamation. “There is their truth. There is my truth. And then there is the actual truth. Let the courts decide,” he said.
Marto concluded by reaffirming his commitment to co-parenting with dignity and thanked those who have supported him. “I will heal privately, even as I live publicly,” he stated.
