Kenyan actor and content creator Daddie Marto has finally broken his silence following a wave of serious allegations made by his wife, Koku Lwanga. The couple, who have been together for a decade, are now at the center of a highly publicised and emotional fallout.
In a statement released on Sunday, Marto addressed the allegations that have been circulating online, including accusations of infidelity, emotional manipulation, and physical abuse. He denied the claims, describing them as “profoundly painful and serious” while rejecting what he called a “distorted and one-sided” narrative.
“I do not condone violence of any kind – physical, emotional, or psychological,” he said. “I also unequivocally reject being the subject of false and harmful accusations.” He further noted that he would not engage in a public back-and-forth, choosing instead to address the matter through legal avenues. His statement comes in the wake of a deeply personal and detailed social media post shared by his wife, in which she opened up about the alleged emotional turmoil and physical harm she experienced during their marriage. Koku described feeling deeply betrayed, saying, “That wasn’t rage, that was pain—pain from the realization that I have been sleeping with the enemy.”
One of the most explosive claims included an allegation that Marto had rented a separate two-bedroom apartment in the same compound they were living in, purportedly to house another woman during a period of separation. According to Koku, a confrontation took place at the apartment, which escalated into violence. She accused him of physically assaulting her during the confrontation, stating she was kicked and punched while lying on the ground. To support her claims, she shared photos of bruises on her back.
In addition to physical abuse, she painted a picture of emotional neglect, gaslighting, and body-shaming—especially after childbirth. She described the mental toll of feeling unattractive and dismissed, saying she couldn’t even receive a compliment from her husband during a time when she needed emotional support the most. Instead, she recalled being told she looked “haggard.”
She also mentioned that her repeated calls for marital counselling were ignored, and that Marto was emotionally absent while entertaining flirtatious exchanges with other women online. Despite the pain evident in her testimony, Koku expressed a surprising amount of concern for the woman allegedly involved in the affair. She warned her of Marto’s supposed violent tendencies and urged her to take responsibility for her part in the events.
