Comedian and actor DJ Shiti is back in the spotlight, enjoying a career resurgence after overcoming a tough period of financial struggles. His comeback has been fueled by high-profile collaborations with Bien-Aimé Baraza and Khaligraph Jones, which have not only trended online but also paid off handsomely.
Big Earnings From Music Collabos
Shiti’s manager, Chingy Mstado, revealed that the comedian’s appearances in recent music projects have brought in impressive earnings. He played a traditional pastor in Bien’s viral hit All My Enemies Are Suffering. While Shiti initially declined payment due to their close friendship, Bien insisted and surprised him with a KSh 250,000 M-Pesa transfer.
In another highlight, Shiti starred in Khaligraph Jones’s hit Confused, where his comic delivery and dramatic flair stood out. Khaligraph not only featured him in the music video but also invited him to perform at a show in Ukambani, gifting him KSh 150,000 on the spot. He later topped it up with another KSh 350,000, bringing the total to a jaw-dropping KSh 500,000 from the collaboration alone.
“There is no project that he has done that has flopped; all have trended. Shiti is very happy,” Chingy said, crediting persistence for the comedian’s new chapter of success.
Shining in Butita’s Productions
Beyond music, DJ Shiti has also found success in Eddie Butita’s productions. He most recently played Apostle Sylavanus Fandili in Kamum, portraying a pastor hired to “pray away the devil” from a politician’s Gen Z girlfriend. The role became a fan favorite, further cementing his versatility as both a comedian and actor.
A Journey of Resilience
Shiti’s journey hasn’t always been glamorous. He began as a stand-up comedian in Nakuru before moving to Nairobi, where he endured hardships, including a period of homelessness. At one point, he revealed, he relied on the kindness of sex workers who offered him a place to stay.
Today, those struggles feel like a distant past. From being homeless to becoming a household name, DJ Shiti now earns big through brand endorsements, viral collaborations, and consistent online content that resonates widely.
The DJ Khaled of Kenya?
Fans have drawn comparisons between DJ Shiti and international music mogul DJ Khaled, noting his ability to build strong networks and thrive through collaborations. Shiti himself credits his resilience, friendships, and the power of teamwork for his revival in the industry.
With his star shining brighter than ever, DJ Shiti has firmly reestablished himself as one of Kenya’s most bankable comedians — and his story is proof that persistence pays off.
