Doja Cat is set to return with a brand-new album next month. The Paint The Town Red hitmaker has confirmed that her highly anticipated project, Vie, will drop on 26 September, marking the follow-up to her 2023 record Scarlet.
The 29-year-old star unveiled the cover art on Instagram, where she is pictured surrounded by roses, alongside news of special pre-order bundles. Fans will have access to exclusive signed vinyl and CDs, as well as weekly drops of limited-edition albums from her “Love Languages Collection.”
Doja also treated fans to a taste of the upcoming record with the release of a new single, Jealous Type. The accompanying music video leans into nostalgic 1980s pop culture themes, adding a retro flair to her pop-driven sound.
In addition to new music, Doja Cat announced her Ma Vie World Tour, which will take her to arenas across Australia and New Zealand later this year. The tour kicks off at Spark Arena in Auckland on 18 November before continuing to Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.
Speaking about Vie, the Grammy-winning artist described it as a deliberate move into mainstream pop. “I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project,” she told V Magazine. “I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that it’s popular.”
Doja also reflected on her vocal evolution, admitting she had once struggled with singing. “Sometimes I’m surprised by what I can do now, because I could not sing,” she revealed. “I have a lot more knowledge of how to use my voice as an instrument, more than I ever have in my life.”
With Vie, Doja Cat is poised to further cement her reputation as one of pop’s most versatile and innovative stars.
