Eric Omondi has once again demonstrated his compassionate side by stepping in to help a woman from Nyandarua County, Susan Wairimu, who has been unable to bury her parents for over a decade due to financial constraints and lack of burial land. Her heartbreaking story has stirred emotions across the country, leading to a wave of support initiated by the comedian.
Susan’s father passed away in 2012, and her mother died in 2019. However, both bodies have remained unburied at the Engineer Funeral Home because she could not afford the mortuary fees or secure a burial site. For over 13 years, Susan has been carrying the emotional weight of not being able to give her parents a dignified farewell.
Determined to help, Eric launched an online fundraiser, appealing to his large fan base and well-wishers to contribute. His goal is to raise KSh 1 million, which will go towards paying off mortuary bills, purchasing burial land, and organizing a decent burial for the deceased. So far, the campaign has managed to raise KSh 450,000, with contributions continuing to come in.
In a moving video shared on social media, Eric visited Susan at the mortuary where the coffins have been kept for years. Visibly emotional, Susan expressed gratitude for the support, while Eric offered her comfort and reassurance. He urged the public to continue donating, emphasizing the importance of helping Susan find closure after such an extended period of grief.
“Let’s get her to a million so that we can pay the bills, buy land, and finally lay her parents to rest,” he said. He also shared a phone number where contributions could be sent directly to Susan.
This campaign has struck a chord with many people online, who have praised Eric for using his influence to make a real difference in people’s lives. Comments from supporters poured in, expressing admiration for his compassion and urging others to give whatever they can to support the cause.
This isn’t the first time Eric has extended a helping hand. In a previous initiative, he supported a grandmother from Homa Bay who offered six chickens as partial school fees payment for her grandchildren. Eric raised over KSh 800,000 for the family, with KSh 600,000 earmarked specifically for the grandchildren’s college education.
Through efforts like these, Eric has shown that beyond the laughter and entertainment, he’s deeply committed to improving lives and uplifting communities. His latest fundraising effort not only brings attention to the plight of one woman but also serves as a reminder of the power of unity and compassion in addressing social challenges.
