Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on gospel singer Betty Bayo’s husband, Hiram Gitau (Tash), and her ex-husband, Prophet Victor Kanyari, to work together for the well-being of her children. The appeal came after Bayo’s funeral on 20 November, where the two men were seen sharing a rare moment of unity.
A Gesture of Shared Grief
During the interment ceremony at Bayo’s farm in Mugumoini, Kiambu, Tash and Kanyari were photographed seated side by side, symbolizing mutual respect and shared mourning. The image captured Bayo’s sons, Sky Victor and Danny, highlighting the importance of co-parenting in the wake of loss. Tash wore a dark green suit with a black tie, while Kanyari donned a black military-style Kaunda jacket, showcasing individual styles yet presenting a united front for the children.
Mosiria’s Call for Collaboration
Accompanying the photo, Mosiria extended his condolences and offered guidance to both fathers. He emphasized the need for collaboration to provide a stable, supportive environment for Bayo’s children, stating: “Please ensure you combine efforts to give the kids a better life.” The Chief Officer highlighted the practical benefits of co-parenting, including emotional stability, consistent care, and educational support for the children.
National Support for the Family
Bayo’s passing on 10 November after battling leukemia left behind her two sons, who were born during her previous relationship with Kanyari. The children’s welfare has drawn attention from the highest offices in Kenya, with both the Deputy President and President pledging contributions toward an education trust fund for the boys. Mosiria’s guidance reinforces these efforts by encouraging ongoing cooperation and structured co-parenting.
Promoting Patience and Understanding
By urging the two fathers to prioritize the children’s needs over personal differences, Mosiria highlighted the role of community and government figures in supporting families during times of grief. His involvement underscores that navigating co-parenting after a loss requires patience, empathy, and mutual respect, setting an example for others facing similar circumstances.
Looking Ahead
Mosiria’s call serves as a practical and symbolic reminder that unity, understanding, and cooperation are essential in safeguarding the welfare of children. The public continues to follow the family closely, with many applauding gestures that prioritize the emotional and educational needs of Sky and Danny during this difficult period.
