The Chief Officer for Environment in Nairobi County, Geoffrey Mosiria, has shared how he supported Isaac Otesa, popularly known as Goliath wa Bungoma, in finding employment and regaining stability in Nairobi after facing financial hardship.
Otesa, famed for his towering height and striking resemblance to social media personality Bradley Marongo, had come to Nairobi earlier this year seeking opportunities. Despite media appearances and interviews, he struggled to translate public attention into a sustainable income, ultimately ending up stranded in Nairobi’s Central Business District without funds to return home.
From Stranded to Supported
Initially, Otesa reached out to Mosiria requesting money for transport back to Bungoma. However, Mosiria saw potential in him and chose a different approach: offering support that would provide long-term stability. “I first met him earlier this year after Obinna’s show. He was stranded in the CBD and called me asking for help to return home,” Mosiria recounted.
Rather than sending him back, Mosiria helped Otesa secure two jobs—one in advertising and another as a club bouncer in Kilimani. These opportunities gave Otesa both income and a renewed sense of purpose, allowing him to start rebuilding his life in Nairobi.
Mentorship and Career Growth
Beyond immediate employment, Mosiria continued mentoring Otesa and utilized his professional network to help him find a long-term career. With support from friends at Car Soko, Otesa transitioned into a white-collar role as a Marketing Officer, marking a major turning point in his journey. This role provided stability, career growth, and renewed optimism.
Reflecting on the experience, Mosiria highlighted the power of giving people second chances: “No one is useless. No one is beyond restoration. All a person needs is a chance and someone to stand with them.”
A Story of Hope and Transformation
Today, Otesa is employed, stable, and optimistic about his future in Nairobi. His journey from struggling social media personality to a full-time professional illustrates the impact of mentorship, opportunity, and support in transforming lives.
