Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are extending their partnership with Netflix, but under new, non-exclusive terms, the streaming platform announced Monday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to develop film and television projects through their Archewell Productions company, though Netflix will now hold a first-look deal allowing it to consider projects before the couple can offer them to other studios.
The royal couple’s initial Netflix agreement, signed in 2020 for a reported $100 million (KSh 12.9 billion), granted the streamer exclusive rights to their content. While financial details of the renewed multi-year deal have not been disclosed, The New York Times reports the new terms are less lucrative, though they provide Harry and Meghan greater creative flexibility.
Since their debut with Netflix, the pair have delivered notable projects including the six-part documentary Harry & Meghan, which chronicled their relationship and high-profile exit from royal duties. The series set a platform record for a documentary, attracting 23 million views within four days of its release despite mixed reviews.
More recently, Meghan starred in With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle series where she embraced her role as a domestic host entertaining guests, harvesting honey, and crafting bath salts amid the scenic California backdrop. The show became Netflix’s most-watched cooking program in early 2025 with over five million views, and has been renewed for a second season alongside a holiday special slated for December.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria praised the couple as “influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.” Meghan expressed excitement about the expanded collaboration, which will also integrate her rebranded As ever lifestyle line, featuring products like rose wine and apricot spreads.
Upcoming projects from Archewell Productions include a short documentary spotlighting a small orphanage in Uganda and a romance film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Meet Me At The Lake, though no release date for the latter has been set.
Harry and Meghan’s latest move marks a strategic shift in their post-royal career, balancing the reach of Netflix’s global platform with the freedom to pitch elsewhere potentially widening their influence in the entertainment industry.
