Fans of Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone are buzzing after a viral video captured him sharing a warm, affectionate moment with US-based singer and businesswoman Juliet Zawedde during a surprise appearance at The Villa in Bukoto. The two, long rumoured to be more than just friends, hugged tightly, exchanged kisses, and beamed with joy, igniting speculation and cheers from the crowd.
“The chemistry between them was undeniable,” one fan commented, echoing sentiments flooding social media. While neither Chameleone nor Zawedde has confirmed a romantic relationship, the scene has revived ongoing chatter about their closeness. Comments like “Just make it official already!” and “They clearly care for each other” dominated online discussions.
Zawedde is currently in Uganda celebrating her birthday. Her main party took place on July 19th at Noni Vie in Kampala, an event Chameleone missed due to a performance in Bujumbura. But the recent stage reunion appeared to more than make up for his absence. Zawedde later posted on Instagram, “Had lots of fun last night with close friends. It was nice to see you all,” alongside clips from the event.
This latest display comes on the heels of Chameleone’s recent health struggles. Late last year, the singer was hospitalised in Uganda before being flown to the US for further treatment. His son, Abba Marcus, later revealed via TikTok that Chameleone had been battling alcohol addiction, addressing concerns about the singer’s weight loss and public absence.

Abba defended his mother from online criticism, clarifying she had no part in the ordeal, and voiced frustration with certain family members. “Honestly, I don’t even want to be called their grandchild,” he said, in a candid post that stirred further public discussion.
Despite personal and health challenges, Chameleone remains a powerful presence on stage and his connection with Zawedde continues to capture fans’ imaginations. Whether their bond is friendship or something deeper, one thing is certain: the public is watching, and they’re rooting for happiness.
