Car dealer and entrepreneur Khalif Kairo has opened up about why he feels unlucky in love and why he’s decided to put romance on hold indefinitely.
Addressing rumors about his recent breakup with former Miss Universe Kenya, Maria Wavinya, Kairo was quick to dispel the notion that the split was linked to his legal troubles. Contrary to widespread speculation that Wavinya abandoned him during a difficult time, Kairo revealed that she stood by him throughout his arrest and trial. He clarified that their breakup was unrelated to the court case, explaining that it was a mutual drifting apart rather than a dramatic fallout. In fact, he was the one who asked her not to attend the court sessions.
Known for his fast-paced business lifestyle and high-profile persona, Kairo admitted that his demanding schedule played a significant role in the relationship’s demise. He acknowledged that balancing his hectic routine with the needs of a partner proved challenging. “I’m always up early and working, and relationships demand attention. If you can’t give that, things fall apart,” he said. According to Kairo, women need presence and attention in a relationship, and when these are missing, difficulties arise.
He also shared that the breakup stemmed from his own realization that he might not be in the right mental or emotional place for a relationship at this time. Kairo expressed that he is currently focused on achieving certain personal and professional goals, and he believes that only after reaching those milestones will he be better prepared to handle love. “At this point in my life, I don’t think I’m cut out for relationships—not until I achieve the goals God has set for me,” he said. For now, he described relationships as “very complicated” given his current circumstances.
Kairo also touched on his role as a father, admitting that co-parenting has not been without its challenges. He hinted at some tension with his child’s mother and candidly described his struggles in managing relationships with women. “I’m not good at relationships, and women are complex. I’m a logical person, but emotions and moods can really make things challenging,” he said. He revealed that last year marked the first time he had dated in three years, indicating how much his personal life has been on hold.
Following the breakup with Wavinya, Kairo has resolved to take a lengthy break from dating. He is now focusing entirely on growing his business, particularly his car dealership. “I’ve made the decision to step away from relationships and focus entirely on my business. Right now, I’m all about selling cars. Dating is not in my plans at all,” he stated firmly.
Looking to the future, Kairo emphasized that his energy will be devoted to career advancement and personal growth. He even joked that dealing with difficult customers is easier than navigating emotional relationships. “After everything I’ve gone through, I’m more motivated than ever to succeed. I keep praying for strength and wisdom,” he said. “Relationships can be a huge distraction—and honestly, I’d rather deal with an angry customer than a moody girlfriend.”
Kairo’s reflections reveal a man who is prioritizing his ambitions and mental well-being over romance, at least for the foreseeable future. Though his love life has had its ups and downs, he remains determined to succeed and grow, confident that the right time for relationships will come once he has fulfilled his current goals.
