Kim Kardashian has publicly condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies, expressing frustration over the human toll of increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Speaking Thursday in Venice at Diane Von Furstenberg’s DVF Awards, where she was recognized for her prison reform advocacy, the 44-year-old reality star said the policies fail to match the narrative of public safety.
“In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country,’” Kardashian told Variety. “But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected. People I know. People my friends know.”
Kardashian, who met Trump during his presidency to lobby for criminal justice reform, noted that she had hoped the administration’s approach would prioritize protection. Instead, she believes innocent, hardworking families are being unfairly torn apart.
The Kardashians star has spoken out before on the issue. In June, she criticized ICE raids in Los Angeles, posting on Instagram that while removing violent criminals was necessary, the “inhumane” treatment of ordinary immigrants was unacceptable. “Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city,” she wrote. “They are our neighbours, friends, classmates, co-workers and family… There HAS to be a BETTER way.”
Beyond immigration, Kardashian also revealed she remains committed to high-profile prison reform cases. In Venice, she said she would be willing to return to the White House under any administration to advocate for Erik and Lyle Menendez. The brothers, serving life sentences for the 1989 killing of their parents, were recently denied parole.
“I would love to,” she said when asked about intervening. “They are in a state prison so the governor is really in charge of that decision, but I would go to any administration and any White House to fight for the rights of people I believe in.”
Kardashian’s comments reinforce her evolving role from reality TV icon to outspoken advocate on justice and human rights.
