The late comedian KK Mwenyewe’s funeral budget has been set at KSh 3 million. Following his tragic passing, his close friends and supporters have launched a public appeal, urging Kenyans to help raise the funds needed to give him a dignified send-off. So far, only KSh 153,000 has been collected, leaving a significant gap of over KSh 2.8 million.
KK Mwenyewe gained popularity through his viral impersonations of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua. His unique comedy style, which brought laughter to many, earned him a loyal fanbase. Sadly, the young comedian died after a short illness while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
Friends Appeal for Public Support
Kafengo, a close friend and fellow content creator, shared an update on the funeral arrangements. He encouraged Kenyans to continue donating through a designated till number, stressing the importance of standing with KK’s family during this difficult time.
“We are grateful for the KSh 153,000 received so far,” he shared. “But with a budget of KSh 3 million, we still need more support to ensure KK gets the farewell he deserves.”
The fundraising effort aims to cover all funeral costs, including transport, burial site, event organization, and support for the bereaved family.
Public Reactions and Questions
The announcement sparked mixed reactions online. While many fans expressed their readiness to contribute, others questioned why the funeral budget was so high. Several users requested a detailed breakdown to understand what the KSh 3 million will cover.
Some also called for the involvement of KK’s family in the fundraising efforts. They felt this would give contributors confidence and promote transparency. A few fans suggested that such efforts should have come earlier, possibly when KK was battling illness.
Others were curious to know whether KK left behind a child or partner who may also need support beyond the funeral.
Tributes and Missed Opportunities
KK Mwenyewe’s death touched many across Kenya, including prominent figures. Among them was Rigathi Gachagua, whom KK regularly impersonated. While Gachagua shared a tribute after KK’s death, some Kenyans felt it came too late. They noted that KK always wished to meet him in person, a dream that never came true.
Some compared KK’s situation to that of Ivy Chelimo, who coined the name “Riggy G” and later received job opportunities. They questioned why KK, despite his impact, was not recognized or supported in the same way during his lifetime.
Help Give KK Mwenyewe a Dignified Send-Off
The appeal for funds continues, with supporters hopeful that more Kenyans will contribute. The goal is to relieve the burden on KK Mwenyewe’s family and honor the life of a comedian who brought joy to many.
