Konde Gang Music Worldwide, the Tanzanian record label founded by renowned artist Harmonize, has suspended its artist Ibrahim Abdallah Nampunga, professionally known as Ibraah, from all musical activities. The suspension, which will remain in effect until the matter is resolved in accordance with Ibraah’s contract and Tanzanian law, is a direct result of alleged behavior deemed disrespectful towards Harmonize, the label’s CEO.
The label’s statement clarified that during this suspension, Ibraah is prohibited from releasing any new music, performing, or engaging in any musical ventures outlined in his contract. Additionally, he is not allowed to make public statements or post on social media about the dispute. The label emphasized that any actions that could potentially damage the reputation of Konde Gang or Harmonize are strictly forbidden.
As the situation gains media attention, the National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) has stepped in to help mediate the dispute. Both Harmonize and Ibraah have been summoned to appear before BASATA on Monday, May 12, 2025. While the specific details of the meeting are not yet clear, it is expected to serve as a platform for reconciliation and legal resolution, aiming to resolve the issue for the benefit of both the artists and the broader Tanzanian music industry.
The relationship between Ibraah and Konde Gang has been complex since the artist signed with the label in 2020 as its first official act.
