Machine Gun Kelly, best known for his rapid-fire rhymes and pop-punk revival, has taken another creative leap with the release of Lost Americana a record steeped in country, folk, and classic heartland rock influences.
The 35-year-old artist, born Colson Baker, first rose to fame as a rapper before reinventing himself with two chart-topping pop-punk albums, Tickets to My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout. His latest work marks yet another transformation, one he says stems from a refusal to be confined by labels.
“I choose to not stay contained in a societal box,” MGK told People. “All I do is entertain, and entertainment can’t be that serious.”
Lost Americana was first teased in June with a cinematic trailer narrated by none other than Bob Dylan. The legendary singer-songwriter described the album as “a sonic map of forgotten places, a tribute to the spirit of reinvention and a quest to reclaim the essence of American freedom.” Dylan, now 84, painted vivid imagery of neon diners, motorcycle engines, and a future forged on one’s own terms.
Initially, fans doubted whether the narration was truly Dylan’s. MGK cleared up the speculation during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, confirming the voice was authentic. “To be honest, I have no idea how he even knows who I am,” he said. “And I’m pretty sure if I say the wrong thing I’ll mess it all up, so I’ll just shut up and accept whatever Bob Dylan throws my way.”

The collaboration followed Dylan’s surprise Instagram post in February featuring MGK performing a gesture that stunned the music world.
Lost Americana is now available on all major streaming platforms, offering fans a new side of MGK while continuing his unpredictable musical journey.
