Kenyan digital content creator Murugi Munyi has inspired thousands with her incredible weight-loss journey, revealing on TikTok that she has lost more than 40 kilograms since January 2025. The lifestyle and body-positivity influencer compared her January weight of 114 kg to 76 kg in October, sharing heartfelt reflections on the physical and emotional changes she has experienced.
From 114 kg to 76 kg: A Journey of Determination
“I’ve lost over 40 kg and some years off my face too. I don’t recognize the girl at the start of the video, but I love her,” Murugi wrote. She credited her transformation to taking charge of her health and committing to long-term lifestyle changes.
Steps Taken Towards Transformation
Murugi’s journey has been ongoing for years. She first publicly addressed her desire to reclaim her health in 2021, revealing her weight had reached around 117 kg. At the time, she noted that her size affected her confidence and career opportunities.
Her transformation included a combination of lifestyle changes, medical procedures, and mental discipline:
- In 2022, she underwent liposuction removing approximately 8.7 litres of fat from her back, love handles, and stomach, costing around KSh 600,000.
- In 2025, she complemented her efforts with a medically-assisted weight-loss plan using Mounjaro (a semaglutide-based injection), combined with a cleaner diet and light exercise.
Lessons Beyond Physical Transformation
Murugi emphasized that long-term success required consistent effort, discipline, and mental resilience. “I’ve had weeks when I was stuck at one weight and felt frustrated. But I’ve learned that the process isn’t linear — what matters is progress, not perfection,” she shared.
She described the journey as more than a physical change, noting it fostered self-love, patience, and gratitude. “It’s not just about looking different; it’s about feeling alive again,” Murugi added.
Impact and Inspiration
Murugi’s transparency and resilience have earned widespread praise from her followers, with many inspired to take control of their own health journeys. She now stands as a symbol of determination and empowerment, encouraging others to embrace change and prioritize well-being.
