Raila Odinga’s loyal supporters, Nuru Okanga and Omosh One Hour, have arrived in Kisumu County to pay their final respects to the late former Prime Minister. The two political activists traveled by air to attend the public viewing of Raila’s body at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium before it was taken to Bondo, Siaya County, for burial.
The journey marks an emotional moment for the duo, who have been among Raila’s most vocal supporters on social media. Okanga had earlier appealed for financial assistance to travel to Kisumu, requesting KSh 50,000 to cover his transport and accommodation costs. Fortunately, a well-wisher stepped forward and offered to sponsor the trip, ensuring that Okanga and Omosh made it in time for the ceremony.
In a heartfelt message shared online, Okanga expressed deep gratitude for the support and reflected on his admiration for Raila Odinga. “Raila, it is you who made this possible. Rest in peace. My heart is heavy, my soul is shattered. Kenya will never be the same again,” he said after landing in Kisumu.
Photos and videos posted online showed the pair arriving at the Kisumu airport, visibly emotional as they prepared to attend the public viewing. Okanga described the experience as surreal, noting the pain of welcoming the man he had long admired in a coffin — something he never imagined would happen in his lifetime.
The scenes in Kisumu were filled with emotion as thousands of Kenyans gathered to bid farewell to Raila Odinga, a figure widely regarded as a national icon. Citizens from across the country expressed their condolences, sharing memories of Raila’s unwavering fight for democracy, equality, and justice.
Messages of comfort poured in for Okanga and Omosh, with many Kenyans empathizing with their grief. Some encouraged them to remain strong and continue championing the values that Raila stood for. Others spoke of the deep void left by his passing, calling him a symbol of resilience and integrity in Kenyan politics.
As Raila Odinga’s body made its way to Bondo for burial, supporters like Okanga and Omosh stood as representatives of the countless Kenyans who were touched by his leadership and vision. Their journey to Kisumu symbolized not only a final farewell but also a testament to the enduring influence of a man who inspired generations through his courage and commitment to the nation.
