Oga Obinna has once again sparked outrage on social media after a controversial moment during a live show, where he exposed veteran musician Willy Paul—also known as Pozzeh—for seeking financial help. The incident unfolded during a live broadcast on Obinna’s YouTube show when he called Willy Paul after noticing a missed call from him.
Their conversation began casually, with both exchanging pleasantries. However, things took a surprising turn when Willy Paul asked about a wealthy mutual acquaintance—reportedly someone who had previously given Obinna some dollars. Pozzeh expressed interest in speaking to the rich friend in hopes of getting support for his creative projects.
“There is a guy who gave you dollars, the one who owns a G-Wagon. Do you think he can support some of my artistic projects?” Willy Paul asked during the call.
Obinna, still live on air, laughed and promised to call him back after the show. It quickly dawned on Willy Paul that their conversation was not private, prompting him to react with shock and concern. He pleaded with Obinna to take the call off the live stream and questioned why he would expose such a sensitive moment publicly.
“So you mean people will now know that I was asking for money? Stop playing around, bro,” he said, clearly distressed.
The incident did not sit well with many viewers, who rushed to social media to express their disapproval. One commenter lamented, “Obinna huwa na utoto kiplani. Mbona upigie mtu simu ukiwa live na hujui kenya anakuambia,” criticizing Obinna’s lack of discretion.
Another wrote, “It’s only proper to tell someone after the hello that they are live.” Many echoed similar sentiments, calling Obinna’s actions immature, disrespectful, and even cruel.
One user remarked, “Obinna umefanya vibaya for real,” while another stated, “What kind of a man would do this to a fellow man?” Others pointed out the reality behind Willy Paul’s request, noting that being an artist is not easy and funding projects can be a serious struggle.
Another social media user added, “Si jokes, hivi ndio wasanii hukuwa kwa ground. Usanii si rahisi kusukuma projects need money.” The backlash was intense, with many accusing Obinna of violating a basic level of trust and etiquette.
This is not the first time Obinna has come under fire for how he handles his guests. In a previous interview with Isaac Otesa—popularly known as Goliath wa Bungoma—Obinna was accused of being condescending. During the conversation, he even suggested that Goliath should return to his rural home and continue his boda boda business, a comment that rubbed many the wrong way.
Although Obinna later defended himself by claiming that his interview helped Goliath achieve greater exposure and success, the damage was already done. The controversy left a bitter taste among viewers, many of whom advised Obinna to be more considerate and respectful in future interviews.
The most recent backlash over the live phone call has reignited concerns about Obinna’s conduct on his show, with growing calls for him to change how he interacts with his guests—especially in moments that involve personal or sensitive issues.
