Renowned preacher Prophet Dr. David Owuor has firmly denied viral claims suggesting he predicted that the world would end on August 2, 2025. The alleged prophecy, which circulated widely across social media and digital platforms, triggered panic among some of his followers and the general public.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness on Friday, the church denounced the doomsday rumours as false, malicious, and intentionally distorted to discredit the ministry and its leadership.
“The leadership and congregation of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness strongly denounce the recent spread of false and misleading information about the world ending on August 2, 2025,” the statement read.
The church emphasized that Prophet Owuor has always adhered to the Biblical teaching in Matthew 24:36, which states that no one knows the day or hour of the Messiah’s return. “Prophet Dr. Owuor has always been categorical on the fact that nobody knows the day or the hour,” the statement added.

According to the ministry, this is not the first time Prophet Owuor has been falsely linked to end-time prophecies. Similar claims went viral last year, falsely asserting that he had predicted the world would end on November 2, 2024.
The ministry believes such misinformation campaigns are designed to damage Prophet Owuor’s reputation and weaken the unity and testimony of the church. They accused the originators of these claims of twisting his teachings for sensationalism.
The church reiterated that it had already addressed the latest claims in an earlier statement issued on July 13, which was also aired on national broadcaster KBC and Radio 47.
The ministry urged the public, especially media outlets, bloggers, and social media users, to verify information before sharing it. “Let us not be quick to spread gossip,” the statement urged. “Instead, let us pursue truth, peace, and righteousness.”
Online, many supporters defended the prophet, calling for discernment and vigilance against misinformation. One noted, “Prophet Dr. Owuor has never declared that the world would end on August 2. He consistently preaches readiness, not fear.”
