Rozinah Mwakideu, media personality Alex Mwakideu’s sister, has shared intimate details about one of the darkest periods of her life — her short-lived marriage to preacher Robert Burale. In an emotional interview, she described the union as the biggest mistake of her life.
Rozinah married Burale in August 2012, just a year after meeting him. The marriage lasted only one year and two days before ending in separation. She admitted that she overlooked warning signs and ignored concerns raised by her late mother, who had sensed trouble from the start.
“My mother had warned me and said she saw darkness in that marriage,” Rozinah recalled.
Early Encounters and Red Flags
Rozinah first met Burale during a visit to Nairobi under the pretext of seeing her brother. She stayed at Burale’s family home in Karen for nearly a month, sharing a room and a bed but maintaining celibacy throughout that period. She later realized that this arrangement was less about personal choice and more about control.
Over time, Rozinah noticed suspicious social media activity and received anonymous warnings about her husband. Each time she confronted Burale, he dismissed the concerns as jealousy or envy from outsiders. Eventually, inconsistencies and emotional strain led to a collapse in trust and the eventual end of the marriage.
Lessons in Trust and Healing
Despite public speculation surrounding the breakup, Rozinah has chosen to speak openly, focusing on personal healing rather than assigning blame. Now in her 50s, she says the experience taught her to trust her instincts and listen to the inner voice of caution.
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned,” she said, “is that love should bring peace, not pain. When your spirit feels uneasy, listen to it.”
Rozinah’s story emphasizes that healing after heartbreak is possible and serves as a reminder for others, especially women, to value intuition and self-respect in relationships.
