Mugithi sensation and police officer Samidoh has sparked excitement among fans after hinting at a possible return to Kenya following a prolonged stay in the United States. The celebrated artist has been away for over a month amid swirling rumours, political tensions, and speculation surrounding his true reasons for leaving the country.
During his time abroad, Samidoh remained largely quiet about his return plans—until a recent social media exchange caught fans’ attention. A follower cheekily asked whether he missed home, prompting the singer to respond with a brief but telling message: “Nakuja very soon.” The simple reply ignited fresh speculation that the Mugithi star may finally be preparing for a comeback.
His time in the US has not been without controversy. Samidoh’s sudden departure came shortly after he found himself in the crosshairs of political heavyweights and high-ranking police officials. Tensions rose after he was seen at Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s residence, where he mingled with other Kikuyu musicians. The appearance was not well received by some quarters, notably from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who later called for a boycott of the artists present at the gathering.
The situation escalated further when Samidoh performed at a local event shortly after, where he was allegedly heard leading chants critical of the government and even praised Gachagua in one of his songs. Soon after, he was transferred to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Gilgil—a move widely seen as a disciplinary response for breaching the police service’s code of political neutrality.
However, before he could report to the new station, Samidoh quietly left the country. As questions arose about whether he was truly on a music tour or fleeing trouble, authorities issued an arrest warrant, labeling him a deserter. Online documents would later show that he had actually applied for and been granted official leave, though critics remained skeptical.
Since then, Samidoh has only made brief appearances in Kenya, sometimes staying for just a few hours before flying back to the US. His prolonged absence led to mounting calls for him to officially resign from the police force and continue his entertainment career full-time abroad.
Despite the controversy, Samidoh has remained active musically, recently updating fans on his US tour with upcoming shows in Boston and Texas. His popularity continues to soar, drawing large crowds and keeping his fanbase engaged.
Adding to the buzz around his return, Samidoh’s wife, Edday Nderitu, was recently spotted supporting him at a performance in Boston. A video shared online showed her enjoying the event with friends, dancing along to his hit Mugithi tunes while Samidoh performed on stage with his signature energy and charisma.
Now, with the political tension seemingly easing and public attention shifting, Samidoh may be preparing for a comeback. His subtle confirmation of returning “very soon” leaves fans hopeful that they won’t have to wait much longer to see the star back on home soil.
