Kenyan singer and actress Sanaipei Tande has been selected to represent Kenya at the prestigious Intervision 2025 Song Contest, set for September 20, 2025, at the Live Arena in Novoivanovskoye, just outside Moscow, Russia. The announcement marks a milestone in her career and a proud cultural moment for Kenya.
The Song and the Message
Sanaipei will perform an afro-pop rendition of her hit song Flavour, introducing her unique sound to an international audience. This year’s contest theme, “Music in the Heart of Your Country,” calls on artists to use music as a bridge between cultures and as a tool for fostering global friendship.
Who Is Sanaipei Tande?
Affectionately known as “Sana,” Sanaipei’s rise to fame began in 2004 when, at just 19, she won the East African edition of Coca-Cola Popstars. This victory led to the formation of the group Sema, which released the hit album Mwewe before its members pursued solo paths.
As a solo artist, Sanaipei has built a stellar career with hits like Najuta, Mfalme wa Mapenzi, Amina, and Chaguo la Moyo. Beyond music, she is also a celebrated actress, having starred in Aziza, Kina, and Showmax’s original series The Chocolate Empire.
About Intervision 2025
Organized by the Russian government, Intervision 2025 is a revival of the Soviet-era contest, reimagined for the modern world. The event brings together artists from BRICS nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America, the Middle East, and beyond.
A panel of international judges will select the winner, with the contest aiming to celebrate cultural heritage, creative expression, and international cooperation through music.
Kenya on the Global Stage
Sanaipei’s participation not only highlights her personal artistry but also places Kenya firmly in the global spotlight. Through her voice and performance, Kenya’s rich cultural and musical heritage will be celebrated at an event dedicated to unity through the universal language of music.
